Seize The Day

With the birds singing at the top of their voices this morning! Spring must be in the air here in the Cotswold’s!

It,s not just the birds breaking into song either, the phone has at last started to ring again with both old and new clients booking work in for the season, now this is great new,s as there is still so much doom and gloom spread all over the newspapers and the TV!

With my gardening /landscaping business now starting to kick back into gear, it will not stop me looking for new earning opportunities both online and offline (what happened to the saying “Bricks and Mortar businesses” ) just goes to show how the Internet language is effecting how we speak today.

It was interesting that Adrienne posted on this blog that she felt there was too much competition for her own skills of organisation, personally I don,t think that is the case, if you are good at something and have a Passion just go for it, as my last article said “Competition is Good” if there was,nt any competition you probable would,nt have a business!

I am still on a fast learning journey with Internet Marketing, but one thing I have learnt so far !Is don,t try to compete in a market you know nothing about!

Many of the top gurus online today started in their own niche before branching out into training and marketing sites, all businesses are like apprenticeships, you have to learn the basics before you can progress, the advantage we have today, is that we can add more knowledge to our chosen field via the good old Internet!

As I proceed with writing my first e book I have already found another 6 sub niches that I can write about, so I can see my whole year planned out for me already, the interesting thing is that my Daughter Jenna is getting married in July so I have been heavily involved in helping with the planning , and as I am footing a large part of the bill, I have been researching online for ways to create a great wedding on as small a budget as possible( her friend spent £25,000 on her wedding and added it on the mortgage) not the most economical way to do it!

And yes there is a lot of books on the subject, but just maybe there is another book in there some where, what do you think?

After all , we all like to read interesting stories that can save us money don’t we!

So if you are not sure if you should write that book, seize the day and just do it! If nothing else you will have practised your writing skills and improved your knowledge of producing an e book on the way!

Have a great day and may all your Dreams come True!

Those words of yours Nick should be written in stone for every new convert to IM. We are all lead to believe we can produce products in any niche. It may be possible for a tiny minority but for the majority, no way.

I decided that I am only going to concentrate on my fields of expertise from now on, whether it will be profitable or not time will tell.

Good tips in the video as well Nick.

  2. The reason I wrote that bill! was that I was starting to feel so unconfortable as I really didnt have enough depth of knowledge in subjects I was looking at, but now I am concentrating on the garden/landscaping and ground maintainance businesses, I am far more comfortable and more enthusiastic than I have ever been!

Like you though! I dont know at this stage if I can turn thse subjects into money, but you can bet your life or rather mine I will give it my best effort!

  3. Hi Nick,

Keeping on subjects we are passionate about always helps a lot…
But also – do check that there is a market for those subjects :)

It’s also a good idea to do what you did and explore other possibilities in the market! – just because you may not think there is a market, there could be with a slight variation… so the research is important too:)

Other than that I agree that we do neeed some knowledge on the subject we’re writing about… otherwise it does all become a chore that gives no pleasure or satisfaction!

  5. That’s good news about your gardening/landscaping business Nick. You get paid real money for real work.

The perfect combination of internet and real world businesses makes a ‘clicks and morter’ company prosper.

Good luck with your eBook project Nick, I must get started on mine soon. First one to get a sale buys the beer.

I look up to you buddy! you have come so far in such a short space of time with your writing! I have learnt so much from you, but you have so much energy with your blogging, at this moment I do not have the time or energy that you have, as regards who makes the first sale buys the beer! your way in front of me I reckon, but I will look forward to buying you a beer and to have an interesting chat for sure!

  7. Hi Nick,

I didn’t know you had an outdoors business and I tell you some of my most enjoyable jobs have been the outdoor ones and I think it creates energy that can’t be achieved working indoors at the PC. I now get out and about to make up for that but gardening could be thought of a sa hobby and If your getting paid for your hobby that can’t be bad.

    ‘Carpe Diem’ Nick!

  8. Hi John

I am really fortunate that gardening is my work my hobby and my passion, and to work outside with mother nature is so un-predictable you never know what little gems she is going to throw at you every day

  9. Hey Nick,

the nail has been well and truly hit on the head here, I always look at life as I feel it should be looked at, and that is “there is no tomorrow, so today is the only day to seize”, and like Brian Tracy states in the video…

Select the one thing that mores you forward with the biggest impact towards your goals on a daily basis!

And, my answer to that is…

    *ABSOLUTELY*!

Fantastic point raised here in your post Nick….Ed.

  10. Hey Nick,

Thanks for the mention in the post… You are right about how I should have gone ahead with my initial idea. I will admit that decision was made when I first started online and if I had known then what I know now, I probably would have pursued that avenue.

But, I’m glad to be where I am right now. But you are so right. Everyone is unique in their own way so people should never be afraid of a little competition.

Great post and as always, a great reminder.

    Adrienne

  11. The problem is Ed, we all get so caught up in the Trivia that makes up our day, that we dont actually move forward! its not untill you take a cold hard look at yourself, that you suddenly find thaat if you keep taking small steps forward how far you will have moved in a year! its these baby steps that can lead us towards achieving our goals and dreams!

  12. Its always good when you can mention people in your posts in a good way! if we all helped each other just a little bit , the world would be a far happier and prosperous place! the good thing is , we can always re-visit an old idea and re-invent for todays times! we just need to motavate ourselves into action, easier said then done with us all running around chasing our tails! you see Adrienne I could do with some of your organisational skills, I wonder how many more would appreciate your knowledge!

  13. Hi Nick,

    I enjoyed your post.

I agree. Competition is postive. However I firmly believe that if your competitions are purely competiting on price, then that’s bad.

If everyone is selling ‘apples’ then of course your prospects are only going to judge your apple on price. (This leads to an unsustainable situation of course in the medium/long term.

The sensible prospect will purchase the cheapest one (all things being equal of course).

The trick is to find a way where your product or service is positioned as an ‘orange’. In other words it cannot be compared. This can be achieved by ‘bundling’ other items with your product/service for example. Perhaps you have a ‘stong guarantee’ that your competitors don’t offer…etc etc. There are many strategies that can be used to shift the selling advantage in your favour.

Thanks again Nick for your post.

    Regards

    John

Today the small business man or woman, has to offer someting different, other than selling just on price, you have to add quality to the product and become the go to person, so if your are not prepared to add value you have little chance of success

Having sold aplles for a living when i was very young, Quality always came first! and then my customers haggled over price and a deal was negotiated!

  15. Hi Nick,

I like the way you look at things. Your blog post is a good inspiration.

Seize the day to the best you can. There will be good days and bad days.

Get things done to the best of your ability and your mind will be better off.

Good video that makes you understand that if you just do it your life can change in many ways. Success or failure, mind set is everything.

  16. Hi Terry

I am glad you liked the post Terry! As I am getting older I find that I need to challenge myself more, thats one reason why I got involved with the Internet and took Johns Masterclass course.

If we don,t keep moving forward we will just stop growing as a person and eventually pass on, not knowing what we might have achieved if we had just tried and seized the day!

I have a friend who I have known for over 40 years and unfortunately he has advanced cancer, and he told me “never get old” so my way of coping with lifes challenges is too keep learning and enjoying every day.

Because one day it will be your last day!

  17. Hi Nick…
Great post and it really hit home with me.
Recently I was invited into a project (a total surprise to me) by an International motivational speaker.

He wanted me to cover the subject of Membership sites. And the reason he chose that niche for me is because I have an ebook out there on membership sites. I no longer work in that niche and in fact only wrote the book because at the time it was an interest to me and I was struggling to find my passion or what it was that I wanted to write about.

Long story short…I ended up in this fabulous course but he allowed me to cover the subject I now cover…outsourcing.
    So my advice is this…
Take action. If you feel drawn to a subject but you are not sure why…go for it and write that book.

You just never know what the Universe has planned for you! If I had not written that book on Membership sites…Chuck Goetschel would never have found me and I wouldn’t be part of this fabulous course.

Your advice to follow instincts is right on. I always listen to my intuition…because my intuition sees the big picture ;)
Thanks for opening my day on a wonderful note ;)

What a wonderful insite to how we must always keep an open mind! your so right you never know what life has planned for you, but you must be prepared to just”seize the day”

The thing I enjoy about my Internet Journey are the people that I meet on the way, who genuinely want you to have success in your life!

Good luck to you, and I am glad I was able to help you start your day positively!
